Due out in May, "I still do"
Not much chance of a tour, but maybe a few select shows.
Would love it to be another great recording, being produced by the same guy that did Slowhand.

I hope this is a return to some of the albums I've known and loved.

I'm a huge EC fan...I love his work from the Yardbirds to John Mayall to Cream to Blind Faith to Bonnie & Delaney to Derek and the Dominoes, whether he was solo or sideman.

Also, I've been a fan of/followed the career of Doyle Bramhall II since his days as second chair in the Fabulous Thunderbirds to the Arc Angels to solo to sideman for Roger Waters, Clapton, BB King, and Cheryl Crow to Smokestack to solo again.

But the last few albums that Mr. Clapton (with Lil' Doyle playing sidekick/foil) have not moved me very much. It's not the playing (there's still flashes of brilliance within the performances) so much as it's the choice of material and the arrangements.

If EC wants to play showtunes arranged for ukelele and harpsichord, he's earned that right..but that doesn't mean I'll necessarily like it.

Heres the Rolling Stone article.

George Harrison is rumored to also play on a track.
I think everyone admires EC's playing, I like every aspect of his career. He doesn't have to write any more big hits, as long as he's playing with enthusiasm for whatever he chooses to play.
At 74, I'm just glad he's still playing and living.

It could, perhaps, be said that a non-Eric Clapton fan would be difficult to locate.

A great guitar artist (although, Eric IMHO is one of a kind) is likely easier to find than it is for one to deliver a well executed hit album. Many have tried and failed; but, you know it ain't EC. :D
