ive been playing guitar for a few years now and have always considered myself more of a blues/rock player. Recently however ive been asked to play for my friends band whos guitarist recently quit. They play more of a death-metal style of music and am conflicted. Im excited to play in a band again but am worried as to how "into" the music i would be playing. Any advice is much appreciated

dont even bother to start your hart and soul will never
be into it there fore its dead before it even starts.

I agree. If this isn't what you're into, don't worry with it. You can't make yourself put your all into something you don't like.

I knew a rock player a long time ago who was asked to join a country band as a temp. replacement. He didn't want to do it at first, but they gigged a lot and he made a ton of money. Later I heard him say that the experience was wierd, but one of the better ones he's had.
I'd say go for it, for a little while at least.

Practice with them a few times with an open mind. If you can't get into it, don't force it, and cut your losses. You'll be doing yourself and your friend a favor. But you might surprise yourself too.

Always good to have an open mind about any style of music... you might be surprised. If your heart is not there with them and your true feelings lie with blues, stay with it, but at least give it a try.

Check it out, be open minded. You can give your input maybe a bit bluesy styles of a guit solo. But if you feel it's really not yours let it.

Cheers :D

You may enjoy the experience so I say try it. Also it may lead to other open doors for you in the future.
