I picked up a Taylor 114ce 6-string acoustic (Grand Auditorium size) for fun earlier this year, and was so impressed buy how fun, and how easy to play it is, that I also bought a Taylor 356ce 12-string acoustic (Grand Symphony size). Both are fantastic guitars, and unbelievably easy to play. The Taylor 12-string is a bit shorter, and a bit wider in the lower bout than my Martin 12-string, and the Taylor is easier to play. I have never had so much fun with acoustic guitars, and this has actually helped improve my electric playing. Taylors are just the best acoustics that I have ever tried. After my experiences with them, and all the reading that I've done, I can't imagine that there are any better made acoustic guitars. :D

Check out this guy, Jeffrey Seeman, playing a Taylor 356ce. He is amazing, check out his other songs too.

This is one one my favorites:

And this one absolutely rocks out!:

nice!

I have a few taylors, (one like your 6 sting, but 15 years older, and a GS series I got in 05.)

They are great guitars all around.

enjoy!

You won't get any argument from me. I have three of them and would still buy another if I found a twelve that spoke to me.

As I speak to people, though, I find there is a polarization out there regarding Taylor guitars. Some people love them to pieces. Others don't care for them one little bit. The story of how I came to love Taylors is a testament to how good they are because I was actually searching for a Martin and had my mind made up. It was Martin or nothing. Fortunately for me, nothing turned out to be everything. I ain't never going back.

Congrats, Shimmi!
Enjoy!

That's good to know. A new acoustic is on my list and ease of play is a high priority. I'll admit, I wasn't thinking of a Taylor, but I'll make sure I try some of them. I played a friends Guild D40 recently and was really impressed with how easy it was to play compared to my past experiences with acoustics.

Definitely! One day at GC, I tried a few acoustic guitars, none really impressed me, and was about to leave when I saw a Martin 12-string hanging in the center of the room, hanging by a piece of leather attached to the top 2 tuners. I took it off the wall and just started noodling and it sounded really nice (it was in tune). It felt pretty darned good too, so i bought it and have really enjoyed playing it.

I get lots of great sounds from the 12-string, but bar chords (is it barre?) are a bit difficult on a 12-string, so I picked up the Taylor 6-string to fool around with, because it wasn't pricey and it plays so smoothly, almost effortlessly compared to other 6-string acoustics. The ease of play on the Taylor 6-string was very nice and I found myself using it for the purpose intended, to have handy and pick up and play when the mood strikes. The mood has been striking a lot more since I got it, and I had so much fun that I bought the Taylor 12-string and it too was very easy to play. I could do bar chords more easily on the Taylor than I could on the Martin, and I can even do thumb-over on the Taylor 12 which wouldn't work at all on the Martin. Just a better neck for chording on the Taylor.

Yes, ease of play is very important. 8)

Beautiful! :D I have a Taylor GS Mini which has become my go-to guitar for teaching/school/traveling. My Gibson Songwriter is always going to be my favorite acoustic, but I like Taylors a lot too. Good choices!

Congrats! Taylors are great guitars, great tone, easy playability, and well built! Selling the 410 I had was certainly a mistake.

Enjoy these two beauty's.

OK, now I'm a member of the 3 Taylors club!

The Cedar top and Rosewood back/sides on this Taylor 314ce RW LTD, make for a much fuller and richer sound than the Spruce top and Sapele back/sides on the 114ce. The 314 has a bit wider and beefier neck than the 114 (the 314 having a bound fretboard), and is just as easy to play, but otherwise, the 2 guitars are very similar. The bound fretboard on the 314 feels incredible, and since it is black, it looks just like part of the fretboard. The 114 is a terrific guitar that has a lot going for it, but the 314 definitely has a better sound, better projection, better tone woods, and it is just absolutely gorgeous IMO. 8)
