I agree with ya', it's a pretty sharp looking bass. It's also a slick player too! The Jazz neck is very agreeable for me. Image

I kind of wish the jack was in the same location on my Squier P as your Fender P, but then again, the bottom jack might be a safer location, in case of accidents, like the cable getting yanked or bass falling over.

I use a 90 degree jack, instead of a straight jack. Too many things can go wrong with a straight jack weather on the top, or side location of the body.

Yeah, I can see what you mean with that, with it sticking straight out.

I never did use a straight jack, and when I was on the road, I changed out straight jacks, for the 90 degree jacks. After extracting a few snapped off jacks, from the bodies of both Basses, and six stringers, that was enough un-necesary fun for me, along with everything else that was going on with the gear.

That was interesting, Glenn. My amp has the input on the top rather than directly in front, So my requirement with the Strat and amp is similar but with the opposite configuration.

With the two straight connectors I was wrapping my cord through the amp handle to relieve stress, but that still requires a bend in the cord at the connector, and removing and installing takes its toll. I just received a six pack of right angle to straight connector cables that seem to be the way to go.

So far I’m loving it. Time will tell. :D

Okee Doekee! :D
I found with the right angle connectors it’s more to grab and better when tightening (screwing) or loosening (unscrewing) the barrel and thus I’m guessing less chance of messing with the pin (if that makes any sense).

Not sure about the Acoustic guitar cable that one of the big box stores are selling though.

I know a lot of people like to feed their cables around their straps, but I've never done this. Also, I like to keep my pedals (usually just a chorus pedal, most of the time) on top of either my cabs, next to the Orange head, or on top of the combo amp. I just like to keep it off the floor, and it gives me direct access to the controls, if needed. I suppose if I several pedals being used, then that wouldn't be practical because of space limitations.

On stage, the cord around the strap is almost a must to insure a jack not being pulled out, or worse. I still wear a scar on the chin from a Gibson SG Custom, early on in my Roadie days of getting a cord that pulled out of the body during a song. After that, the cord secured through the strap on that one.

The cord through the strap is, I think, a good thing; although, I confess I haven’t always done it with the Strat. I do hope the metal strap locks don’t cause wear and tear on the cord though. Maybe some extra grody wrap on the cable would be in order.

Now, where the acoustic has a minor issue where the barrel of the plug helps to keep the strap from slipping off the guitar, looping through a belt might be of help to prevent cable pull out and any possible, in my case, plastic damage of the output jack. Just forget the belt loops though, and wear clean shorts as a precaution.
This is especially geared for me as I have no hips that keep my pants up. :P

I've had the back end of my strap come off (fortunately while I was holding my bass,) so I've been apprehensive of looping anything through it and aide in the ability for the strap to come off, but I do understand the reason why you'd want to to feed the cable through. Fortunately, I've hadn't had any problems with yanking any cables out, stepping on them, or otherwise. I've had instruments fall over, though. That's always a cringe inducing moment. :P
