Beautiful jazz bass! I've always wanted to pick up a jazz bass, one of these days. The variety of sounds you can get is incredible, compared to the common, everyday, P-bass.

Jazz basses can sound really nice. The Jazz is my favorite Fender bass.

I like the pearloid inlays, in place of the black inlays.

That has a Bad $@! II bridge on it, doesn't it? I have one of those on my Squier Jazz Bass.

It's basically the same design as the Leo Quan BA Bridge, but it has Geddy Lee's initials on the base of it.

I know his original basses had those. Maybe it's some licensed version.

I'm pretty sure Leo Quan went out of business, and there are only so many BA ll's around. Fender I believe, copied the Quan, or bought the rights to the design.

You know, I didn't even realize what was the situation with those. I'd bought mine years ago. I have just looked up the name and there certainly is some various forums postings and a vague Wiki article about the bridge, but nothing about the company. There were a few eBay listings for them new, but that could be NOS floating around.

Leo is actually Glenn Quan. If the information is correct, he is 66 years old, and resides in the San Francisco, CA area.

One thing about the design of the LQ BA / Fender High Mass Bridge used on the Geddy Lee Basses, they needed to move the bridge saddle for the E string close to center of the pup's poles. I do think I understand why they used the E string to be more out of alignment, than the other strings. With it being a large gauge string, it covers more area over, or around the pup's poles for it. Mine sounds fine, I can't complain.

You know, I never paid attention to that, until you mentioned it. I think my Squier is like that with that bridge, now you mention it. The sound seems to be pretty even, though. It's just the pickups are a little weaker in comparison to the Schecter.

It's set that way on both the Geddy Lee MIA, and the Geddy Lee MIM jazzes.

I played some Pink Floyd with the USA GL Jazz today. It sounded incredible. "Comfortably Numb" was something else.
