So in the last six months I have sold two guitars, bought two new ones, bought my first tube amp and 4 pedals. Now I have my eye on a boutique tube amp from this guy in Kentucky. And I want this cool sounding MXR overdrive pedal.

I have spent hours and hours looking at reviews for amps, listening to YouTube demos and prowling around forums like this.

Wondering if I ha be GAS. If I do, please someone let me know the cure.

There is no cure, only a lifelong treatment........which involves buying gear periodically, to temporarily ease the gas.

+1

Get use to it, and if you are married, your spouse will get use to it in time......

But it might be a LONG time.

I have found "cheaper" options in treating and dealing with G.A.S.

I have found that modifying existing gear (swapping out pickups, pickguards or other cosmetic accoutrements), or acquiring new straps, new "necessaries" (such as capos, slides, etc.), or the occasional pedal, harmonica or microphone staves off the pain and hunger of a new guitar or amp...at least temporarily.

The problem with the temporary solutions is when you get a guitar set up perfectly to your liking (sonically and visually) it's hard to accessorize or customize it without going "Too Far"...and you can only have so many capos, straps and slides.

Sometimes the only treatment is a new guitar or amp...

As bad as G.A.S. can be, it's a whole lot less painful than gout. I'd take five years of untreated G.A.S. over the mildest bout of gout any day!

It'll only get worse. I'm to the point that if I don't have a package to track, I start to get the shakes. Reverb.com is my fix.

You know, I actually went for a couple of months without GAS. It was kind of weird. :P

The problem is that it isn't an either/or. Having a bad rheumatic condition and G.A.S. is no fun. It tends to make one more picky, though. 75 lb amps become a little less attractive, unless they come with a roadie plan.

You're suffering from a GAS flareup. It may last for a few months, years, or until the day you die. Sorry but there's no known cure. 8)
