Another vid from the folk night at the Moon Spinners. It's early in the night yet, it gets a lot more lively later on when people come in. I think I've only just arrived, that's me on the left under the hat and that is my first pint of beer, so I'm not warmed up yet. It's actually good fun later.

English pub fun! Looks like a good time was had by one and all.

Thanks for posting, makes me miss my favorite Pub, the Blackbird Inn in Croughton. Drank many a pint while there, and the bartender had a thousand jokes to tell!

Yeah you get some characters in the pubs. A lot have closed down around our parts, folks are buying cheap booze in the supermarkets and drinking at home, it's a pity.

What a treat, Steven. Reminded me of the Friend At Hand pub where I spent time in London back in '65.

I grew up in a town (Victoria) where they have a few British style pubs; but, although exceptions exist, generally in Canada drinking establishments are more commercial, and except for sports bars, east coast bars, and open mike, they are usually more conservative, and a group like yours would not likely be possible with the comradeship, etc. You truly have a great thing going. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks FSB, by the end of the night everybody seems to be in the band, fiddles, accordions, squeeze boxes, harmonicas and even saxes and everyone has a song to sing. :D

That's sort of how it was in Nova Scotia when I was a kid. Open door house parties were common place. Everyone was encouraged to participate, and if you didn't have an instrument there was always a washboard, a mouth harp or a pair of spoons or a comb and paper. Lots of enjoyment to be sure. Can't say it was always Grammy material though, but at the time we all thought it was.
Mind you, that was Hank Snow territory.

Looks like a great night out jamming Rhumba cheers, I'd be sorely tempted to get one of those vox plug in amps and go electric, no idea how loud they are though.

Real pubs is what I miss the most after moving to the US. They have plenty of bars here, where people go to do heavy drinking, and restaurants with beer. But there are no pubs where everybody goes to just hang out and have a good time together, whether a vicar or a street sweeper. Here, people come together (or alone), sit in isolated islands, and leave together (or alone), without even offering others as much as a smile.

I'd love to bring my fiddle and tin flute to a pub again. It's been too long.

Glad to see people being people. Keep the good vibes going!

My local was in Ardley, Oxfordshire. The Fox and Hounds, always playing Simon and Garfunkle. Home away from home.

Thanks fella's, it's a pity the Fender lounge can't have a good get together, would be quite a night I reckon. :D

That looks pretty fun. 8) There's a few Irish pubs in Newport, RI (where I live) but no English ones. There were a few English pubs in St, Petersburg, FL when I lived there years ago that I use to go to with a friend of mine.

Great video Rhumba, that's what music should be about, just some folks getting together for the fun of it.

Wish there was more like that around here, looks like great fun.
