It's beautiful. :)

Arguably I would say that your Heritage is probably better built than mine and I have looked into them before. The one thing that puts me off (and I know this is ridiculous and superficial) is the shape of the head-stocks.

It's the same with Epiphone, their Les Paul's are absolutely superb but the head stock looks wrong somehow, just too long. I have an Epiphone Sheraton and Wildkat as they don't have the standard horrible head-stock other Epi's have.

I know, there's something seriously wrong with me.

As I intimated, the differences between the two are minimal at best and subjective to a degree. They're both excellent quality instruments.

You're not the first one to express no love for the Heritage Headstock aesthetics and truth be told, this is actually the guitar's Achilles Heel.

The headstock is extremely fragile as were those of the pre-Memphis ES-335s. Designed to rake 17° to maintain proper string tension over the nut w/o the need for string trees, these headstocks have very little wood at the rake and suffer if dropped or fallen over. Many Heritage guitars have replacement necks or repaired headstocks as a result. Proper repairs restore the guitar to 100%, but replacement necks and repairs are expensive and time-consuming... who wants that?

Gibson redesigned the neck in the late 80s to keep more wood (and thereby strength) at the rake immunizing the guitar from damage to a great extent.

It is this weak spot and not aesthetics, that forms my dislike of the Heritage headstock.

But I found my NOS 2010 at a small rural Ma & Pa music store which was closing after 45 years in biz and I picked it up for just under $1200... basically one third the cost of the Gibby - a true steal. I was really intending an ES-335 (w/ figured trans Maple top) when this too-good-to-be-true opportunity came along, so I had to snatch it up. With the difference, I was able to buy my 1st Blackface amp and still keep a Grand in the pocket.

Besides, it's a near perfect match for my FSR Custom Telecaster HH w/ set neck, hard tail, carved mahogany top and twin EMG active pups...

Naw! Some like Caddies with fins and some like them without while some like small headstock on Strats and others prefer the larger variety. Meanwhile, there is a following for the works as long as it fits the flavour of the day. 8)
I like both your Gibby, Torres, and your Heritage, Lightnin'. Both would be good in my collection as the fine guitars that they are. For me playability and sound would have some bearing; but, even I am opposed to a steady diet of same old same old. Having a Strat helps.
Nice grab, Torres.

Congrats torresfan, always an attention catcher whenever I'm perusing the guitar stores. Had one in my hand just last week as a comparison feel wise to the price range I was in, epi's etc., bloody thing spoilt me didn't it, just sounded crisp, clear and defined, ended up after trying lots of others with nowt. I was though, at last resort by salesguy led to prs in my price range, I just about walked out with first one I tried, the set up and action off the wall, was spot on for me, strings as close to fretboard as possible made me look back at 335 and ask my self why don't other brands at least have a few set up like this instore, even the 335's and such. I'd prob have walked out with 335 had it been really low action, just the matter of convincing my wife that her xmas pressie to me will infact be covering the next 7 xmas's, to get round .
Still walked out empty handed btw, wanted to check prs guitars reliability online before parting with cash, ended up getting swayed somewhere else.
Have a blast with your beautiful new axe torrefan.

Congratulations on your new purchase. I picked up the same color 335 last year. I love those 57 classic pickups. Quite a versatile guitar. Enjoy.

Thanks everyone.

I must admit that I've made a deal with this Guitar to play it as much as I can after living it's first six years as a case queen in some warehouse in the UK. Poor thing!

It will get all the love it deserves. :)
