I too just read that, Paul. Seems like the legends are leaving us sooner than expected, although one never knows. David Bowie (aka David Robert Jones) battled cancer for 18 months. His son confirms David's death (Sunday, January 10, 2016) after Thin White Duke released his Blackstar album on Friday, January 8th.

RIP Ziggy

I just woke up a while ago to find out about this. What a huge loss for the music community. I didn't even know he had cancer. Not only was he very talented but he also cared about his fellow man as well , with his appearances at benefit shows such as the Freddie Mercury Tribute and I believe , a few 9/11 shows as well among others. A true class act who will be missed. R.I.P. Mr. Bowie.

The first album I heard from David Bowie was Aladdin Sane.

It was 1973 and I was almost 14 years old.

I was fascinated, and have been Bowie fan ever since

I was never much of a fan but regardless, 69 is too young to go in this day and age.
(no pun intended)
RIP Mr. Bowie.
You made an impact.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

This makes me truly sad.
So many great ones die. All of them.
But David Bowie was greater than most. Not only a pop star, but a true renaissance man. Singing, composing, playing multiple instruments, acting, technology, and so much more.

When he turned down a knighthood, it made my chest swell with pride.
When he died, it made my eyes swell with tears.

He was a true artist and an innovator - what a huge loss.
So unexpected and so, so sad.

I was doing some work in a Ramada hotel in Manchester UK and was talking to a lady called Pauline who was the head of housekeeping .... I asked her if she had met anyone famous in the hotel and she replied yes, David Bowie, he rang down for extra pillows and I took them up but when he opened the door he didn't have his contact in (he had two very different coloured eyes , so wore a contact lens )....and I couldn't help but stare , he noticed it and pulled his eyes open wider and said Go ahead have a good look , I'm used to it to which she blushed but he put her at ease and they ended up having a good laugh together
Rest in Peace Starman

I guess the mother ship came back and picked him up. :( What's spooky it's the same thing that happened with Lemmy. They both died two days after their birthday and it was cancer. I'll tell you, to me it's like losing a close relative he had that much impact. :(

Through the years, I've always enjoyed your work and felt that you made significant peripheral contributions.

Thanks for the Music !!
