Could someone recommend one of these for an assortment of different pedals - all 9v of coarse.
Is there such a thing available without having to have 1 brand of pedal fitting into an overall unit?

Yeah, the 1 spot is the cheapest power supply for multiple pedals. It works for me. Others that work, especially if you have a couple 18-volt pedals, and are more expensive are:

Yup Visual Sounds does it for me too.

I got mine when I bought the Route 66 pedal, best investment in tone besides my Amp I have ever made.

the only thing about the one spot, is that is doesnt push enought power when u are using several pedals
