My bad, Jerry.

Thanks! Picked it up in a local pawn shop for $80. Still had the plastic on the pickguard.

Jerry, that was a well spent $80! But everyone needs to own a ES335 at least once in thier lives...just like you must have a guitar with P90's! They are unwritten rules, but rules just the same!

When I joined this forum I had 3 guitars and one bass. Now I have 7 guitars and one bass.

You say I gotta have an ES335 and a guitar with P-90s before I die, HA, at my age that could be any day now

I guess I better start saving money now. :)

I don't even know what kind of guitar uses P-90s.

Jerry

Those are beautiful guitars. Congratulations! I have a Gibson Les Paul Custom and love it. At 10+ pounds it's a bit heavy but I can handle it.

Those are great Christmas presents!

The P90 was Gibson's first mass-produced electric guitar pickup and was used on a number of hollow-body electrics and the first Les Pauls. It would be largely superceded by the Seth Lover designed humbucker in 1957 though the P90 would still be found on a number of Gibsons such as the Les Paul Junior and Special editions plus the corresponding SG models, the ES330, and various permutations of the Firebird. Sonically, it's a bit rawer and more gutsy than the humbucker and is still fitted to many contemporary Gibsons. Physically, it resembles a Fender Jazzmaster pickup albeit a skosh taller.

Thanks Arjay!

I knew you would know what kind of guitars used P-90s.

My pleasure, Jerry.

The P90 was also installed on many vintage Epiphone models.
