I remember he wanted to have a taxidermy done of himself mounted on his horse. I don't know if they could even pull something like that off. It would make for an interesting memorial, that's for certain.

Trigger was indeed taxidermied. As was the dog. But not the man itself.

Yeah, I remember reading something about that a long time ago.

Dale Evans didn't like the idea of doing the taxidermy of "Trigger" at first. But later when her own horse, "Buttercup" died, Dale decided to have the taxidermy of "Buttercup" as well.

The one thing I couldn't figure out about the show was what year was it suppose to be set in? It seemed like it was based during the Old West, yet they had a guy that drove around in a jeep of some kind. They certainly didn't have those in the 1870's, or whenever around that time. :P

They had telephones too, and a fridge. I thought it was supposed to be one of the small towns that time forgot, and the characters still lived like if they were in the old west, even though it was the 50s.

There are still a few places like that, with cash only economies, hand pumped gasoline, spittoons in the bar, dogs under the porch, and the sheriff, mayor, postmaster and biggest rancher being two brothers (and also cousins). You'll always be welcome if you can play the hurdy gurdy with no hanky panky.

I think I've been to a town or two like that, especially when I lived in Florida. There is this place called Old Town that reminded me of something out of the Twilight Zone.

In The 60's there were parts of old FL that were like that.

Back then, when you got up around Ocala way, it could have been Hairy?

Or, they might have such eloquent signs that suggest that you shouldn't stay in town after dark, not that you would want to in the first place. :P

I remember one sign they had at the entry into Ocala at one time. It listed what they didn't want in their community. But that was then.

You probably felt safer "walking the dog" in Vietnam. :P
