So, for the fellows that live and/or play guitar by the beach, what do you do to reduce the sea breeze damage to the metal parts of your guitars?

Fortunately, I live in a town about 120km away from the beach, but it happens that I joined a band based in the capital, and guess what, it's on the coast. My family has an apartment with a sea view and I usually crash there when I go playing with the guys, and now I have to deal with the moisture and salty air.

For now, I thought of running a cloth soaked in WD40 through the bridge, strings, tuners and screws.

Anything else you beach boys advise?

Thanks in advance!

First I quote Douglas Adams: don't panic.
There won't be a sudden rust attack that would ruin your equipment overnight. And if the worst happens, you just have a natural relic.

But to avoid/delay that, as options to the WD-40:
Get a pack of guitar cleaning products from your favorite brand, use those regularly and often. On metal parts, you could use any car wax, or metal/chrome cleaner with a protecting ingredient.
Keep an eye on the pickguard screws - they probably are the "canary bird", indicating the rust is creeping in...

On the negatives, if you linger on the seaside long enough, the salty air will eventually win.

Having used WD40 on guns in the past, I quit using it altogether due to it's tendency to 'gum up' and yield an unwanted residue. I'd use the products intended for guitars.

+1....Spent every Sunday for a number of years gigging on a outdoor deck on the Florida Gulf Coast without issue. Do a thorough clean with your favorite brand of cleaner and you shouldn't have any problems. I didn't encounter any more of an issue than any other place I have played. Just keep it clean.

I would agree - just keep it clean. I have had no issues and I can throw a rock into the Intracoastal Waterway from my balcony.

Back in the days when I did a lot of salt water fishing, I used to spray my rod guides and reels with WD-40. In that case the residue was "wanted" as a corrosion barrier. It seems to have worked well as my now unused gear still looks good. I agree with IM4Tone, it's not good for guns for that reason. However, it does a respectable job of cleaning shotgun barrels of wad residue.

CorrosionX is a great product, I use it on all my guns & fishing reels. I hadn't thought about using it on the guitar but it would be good on the bridge, tuners. It would probably mess up the finish if you aren't careful w/ it, a little goes a long way...
