Many already know, and for those who don't , today Paris was under attack from terrorist suicide bombers. This happened around the soccer stadium where France and Germany had a friendly game. It also occurred at a concert for the California rock band Eagles of Death Metal. 153 killed so far. The band is reported safe, but, at last note, two members of the crew have been unaccounted for. Here's hoping they are okay.

More on this.

For those lost R.I.P. For families and friends of those lost, our thoughts are with you. Know that you are not alone. Peace be with you all.

Hope that our forum friend, Alain, is okay as well as other
forum members from France.

U2 has cancelled their show there for this weekend too.

Updated correction:

Earlier I quoted 153 were killed. Typical CNN news report without verification. It would appear that 128 are dead, more than 180 are injured, including two Americans. All of this is subject to change.

Regardless, numbers are not to take away from the tragedy of even one life taken away because of personal or collective differences. We are all here for such a short time. Too bad there are those of us who can't find common ground to live amongst each other peacefully.

Incidentally, another report has Huckabee saying the U.S. border should be closed because, generally speaking, it is too difficult to determine who are the potential terrorists and who are desirable travellers. Pretty sad, huh?

Here's wishing you all a great day, and better times ahead.

We've got some friends that were there and mutual friends with the band that was playing and fortunately they're all safe, as far as I know. My sincere condolences to the friends and families who weren't so lucky. :( Sometimes the world can be a very small place, especially when things like this can happen. :(

More than sad. If we let fear rule our lives, we have no lives worth living.
I will proudly play anywhere without security, because one song making people happy by far outweighs anything the lowlife scum can do.

FSB: Many have tried to strike fear in our history. Fear not. They have failed and will again. IMHO.

FSB: That's the spirit, arth1. You are so right. Any border blocked between Canada and USA will be breached from both sides like the Berlin Wall. Fraternal brothers and sisters aren't about to separate the family. We're like peanut butter and jam.

I read yesterday that one of the band crew members was killed in that cowardly attack. France has already declared war on Isis , who has declared responsibility for the attacks. This is just sickening .

France was already at war with ISIL. What they did as a kneejerk retaliatory reaction was bombing a city.
Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently, an anti-ISIL journalist/activism group, said the strikes had largely hit civilian targets, including a hospital, clinics, a stadium, a chicken farm mistaken for training grounds, a museum and a local governmental building.
Killing civilians is not going to undo any damage. It's just creating more terror; more innocents running in fear and dying.
Anyone who has a concept of "enemy civilian" whose lives are worth less is a terrorist, no matter what flag they're flying.

It's a sick, sick world. And France as a nation lost all the sympathy they had from me. Now all my sympathy is with the civilians and their families; in Paris, in Beirut, in Raqqa and everywhere else where men with guns and bombs have brought terror.

There are two ways to respond to terror:

All I am saying, is give peace a chance.

For all those misguided individuals who would even think to do harm to others in order to push an agenda of terrorism or similar cause:

If leaders and their followers are not to be trusted or accepted look to the people. Most often, political, religious, corporate, and other decisions are representative of the few rather than a majority. Often it is a majority of a few.

With this in mind, look to the men, women, and children of the world. Look and listen to their story, get to know them, and you will find peace and love that surrounds us all. Even amongst the differences you will find a common bond. Do not be swayed by those who are on a path that misrepresents the men, women, and children who are the future of the world. Media is not always the voice of the people. It often represents the majority of the few who support the power pundits. Listen and learn from the people in the street. Here you will hopefully find the answer and truth you seek. One can be a tourist in the resort, but you can learn more about a country and culture by walking amongst their people.

The world is at your door. It's not perfect, nothing ever is, but it is on a roll that needs help, and it has more to give than take. Enjoy the love and peace it has to share. Even better, share yourself and contribute to something even bigger . . . making the world a better place by showing you care for others more than yourself. It will come back to you my friend(s). Life is short. If you are young and your life has held misery you have the fortune of knowing that today can be the beginning of of a better life should you decide to make the effort. Many have done this, some are here on this Forum for example. If you are old you have nothing to lose. Set an example for others, perhaps, to improve their lives and to give them the opportunity to live to be old. Believe what you choose, but let others choose their path with compassion.

In the beginning we were all given life, and in the end we were put here to give others life. Life is to be enjoyed with others. If one has been wronged by others it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that this approach is not the path to take. The other path to a better understanding will pay off in spades for the majority and not for a few. Don't blow it!
IMHO.

Note: In light of the Paris and other attacks, I stand for criminals coming to justice. I do not profess to having the answer to this dilemma knowing that education and privlege will not prevent it. The previous is only thoughts I put forward for a more positive take on the matter. Thanks, for reading my ramble and for those helping to make the world a better place whether with music or action - double thanks!

How is it we are on a heightened Security Alert and Assault Rifles are stolen from an Army Reserve Base in Worcester? Really? Stealing guns from an Army Reserve Base? If we can't protect our own Army Reserve bases against gun theft, what chance to do we have against these terrorists?
