Ok, no photos yet, I'm in the beginning stages. My son moved out last week and now I'll finally have my music room/man cave.

So I'm asking all my fellow gear junkies on here to share with me some ideas on how you display your guitars in your man cave? How you hang them? Just what did you do to display them functionally, safely, and to look good.

Any ideas are appreciated.

I don't. To me, a man cave is a man cave, not a man showroom. A place to retreat and do things that womankind have no interest in. Set up for function and comfort, not aesthetics. Anything on display would be trophies, which guitars aren't to me. YMMV.
I play guitar well enough that I don't need to retreat to play or practice. So there are a few guitars in the living room, also on the wall. But in the man cave, only temporary on a stand, for grabbing, not displaying.

My setup is more for function also. I keep three single stands spread around for the guitars I'm currently playing. I have a five guitar stand in the corner for when it's time to vacuum, or I just need to straighten up the room. I also have a stand and guitar in two other rooms for when the urge hits. Those two guitars actually fit the decor of the room, so it's a combo of function and aesthetics.

To me this room will do double duty as showroom and practice room. I can only play one at a time after all. And my OCD means I want it tidy a pleasing space, no other way for me to operate.

Right now my acoustic sits on a stand in the living room but that's all that bride would like in the "family" space, so that's the one that gets played the most. While supporting me in my music hobby she also finds no interest in it. The rest are in cases in a closet and just more of a hassle to get out and play. On weekend nights after she and my daughter go to bed I've been hauling my bass or guitar/amp/computer to the garage to make noise. So having this space for my guitars/basses/drums is something I've been looking forward to for a long time.

This room is in the basement on the opposite side of the house from our bedrooms, and when we built it for my son's bedroom it was well insulated so he could play tunes or games without disturbing anyone upstairs.

Just for clarification, I was just wondering if anyone else had found ways to creatively hang their guitars was all. It's not going to be a museum of untouchables by any means.

For my guitar collection I went with commercial-grade slat board and standard guitar hooks......

My amps are arrayed against the walls to permit easy access......

You should hook up all of those amps at once and crank them to 10 and see what happens.

Just enough active splitters to feed all the amps would cost a fortune, not to say anything about the 1.21 jiggawatts of electricity.

Being one of those nutty multi-instrumentalists, I have a "man cave" that used to be my daughters (now full grown, on her own, married, etc...) bedroom.

Not shown in the photo are my amps (Fender Frontman 65r and a homemade (Heathkit?) bass amp that my dad built for me years ago out of a kit), the stereo system, MP3 players, mics, etc... other gear...

Arjay's amp collection is KILLING me... Damn!!!

anyways, For me, my "cave" is a corner room in my basement that used to be a work shop for the previous owner.
it's dry, has a window, carpet on the floors, and great lighting. (No florescent,, pahhlease!) all tongue and groove 1/2 boarding on the walls. I've got hangers on the wall but those are just for when I'm using it.

I case my guitars when not in use anyway.

Thanks for the ideas, keep them coming.

I know one thing, my collection of 6 guitars/basses and a couple amps looks pretty small now, :D

I've got most of the prep work for painting done, going with red walls. Have to remove the closet doors/shelf and that "recess" will be where the guitars hang. That's about the extent of my plan so far.

Yep, I'll send photos when done.

I have what you would consider a man-cave , where not only do I keep my guitars and my amp, but I also have a small art studio set up along with my comic book collection. I keep my guitars in their cases and only take them out when I play them. I don't feel the need to have them out on display.
