Hi folks,

I’m searching for the pickups to upgrade my new Squier Standard Stratocaster.

I need the 'vintage version' of Texas Specials - say, blues-rock sound, but more transparent and clear than Texas Specials. TS’s sound a bit nasty for me. I've researched the site, and there are two models that seem the most suitable ones to me: Tex-Mex and 57/62. I've listened to the demos on YouTube, they sound both in the right way for me and (according to the YouTube) sound pretty close.

Who had a chance to compare them? Which one is really beefier?

The Tex-Mex set costs pretty cheaper that 57/62. Does that mean that Tex-Mex is the ‘lower-grade’ product, or is that just the matter of country of origin?

Thanks.

The Fat 50's may be a better choice for those tones -- less raunch, more spank, very articulate.

+1 on the Fat 50s! 8)

If I had to choose between the Tex Mex and 57/62, it would probably be the Tex Mex, as they are more versatile. Actually, for the price, the Tex Mex are the best pups Fender has, a real bargain and terrific sound. I have all three types, and they each have their own special character, but the Fat 50s are my favorite by far.
