Hallo,

Has anyone had the chance to compare the humbucker on a MIM Standard HSS with the Diamondback humbucker on the MIA Standard HSS?

I'll have a MIM HSS soon and am curious as to the differences between them.. (couldn't afford the American!)

Cheers!

I have played & I am buying the American Standard HSS but I have not played the MiM pickups that they so generically describe as "1 Humbucking Pickup (Bridge)" HA! lol
But If I had to guess I would say that humbucker has output & tone that matches well with those "2 Standard Single-Coil Strat Pickups (Neck and Middle)" that come in your guitar...
I might also guess that you will inevitably change them to somthing else...
Why? because u might want hotter single coils like Texas specials and in doing so changing out to a humbucker with more output to match or visa versa. But it depends on what your looking for...
I always say play with what came on it... then with reference for what sound u are going for make changes... some people find they dont need to change anything.
I won't change mine until I have spent more time with the tex mex singles and the Diamondback... I will decide later...
I also posted a question here asking if a Pearly Gates +(Plus) is the same pickup as a DH-1 Humbucker or how they might differ...

Hahaa Bss, you've got me sussed - swapping the neck and middle to Texas Special pickups is exactly what I have in mind down the track - not because I think the stock pups may not be any good, as from many and varied reviews I've been reading over the months before choosing that guitar they've had fantastic reviews - but more just to play around and simply see what I like. Am new to electrics and like the thought of being able to switch things around for different tones, try a few different setups and generally find out what I prefer in my guitar.

If other pups like the TS' are more output though, would I still need to upgrade the humbucker for any reason other than tone, it already having higher output than the singles anyway?

And were I to swap my neck and middle singles for Texas Specials, does anyone who's done this on a HSS have any thoughts on the best humbucker to put in there to go with the tone of the TS singles?

Thanks! :)
