All genuine Fender products in Fender packaging...

I got a set of control knobs... Made in USA
The LSR roller nut.... Made in USA
And a set of chrome Locking tuners... Made in Taiwan.

I just thought that a bit odd as I kind of expected all of the products to be made in USA... but guess not....

I am assuming that the Locking tuners should still be good quality? I'd hate to think that it was a cheaper and therefore weaker product?

Has anyone else had any Fender parts from outwith USA? I know that they do make guitars in Japan and Mexico... so it's likely not so unusual for some of the parts to be made elsewhere also.

My minor concern is that.... I've heard people talk about Floyd Rose "licenced" trem units being softer metal than the "original" and therefore can wear away.
I wouldn't want any wear issues too soon on the tuners..... or am I being concerned over nothing?

Thanks

I think you'll find that several replacement parts for Fender amps (primarily hardware) are now made in the Peoples' Republic of China. I'm certain that many guitar parts will soon be outsourced as well if they're not already.

Of the 30+ years I've been playing guitar, I have owned (or currently own) guitars made in the USA, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, China, Spain and Canada...the simple fact of the matter is that the "quality" of a given guitar (or in this case, part) has very little to do with what part of the planet it was made. For example, I currently have 2 CIC Squiers (one Standard Strat and one Affinity Tele) and both are really great instruments for the money. I also have a Chinese made Ibanez semi-hollow and that thing is simply sensational...without question, a really wonderful instrument!

Remember, Fender is a large global company...Mexico, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, China, etc., and as a large company, they do outsource. If the item in question was Fender branded, meaning it was made to Fender's specifications, then regardless of who made it or where it was made, I suspect you'll be happy with the quality.

My advice is simply this; don't let yourself end up being first oarsman on the snob boat. If those locking tuners do what you need them to do, who cares where they were made? Why should it even matter?

Just something to consider.

If you think about it, you can't buy a coffee mug made in the US any more. I'd be genuinely surprised if any of your new parts were in fact, US made.

Aside from the nationalistic aspects, it really doesn't make a difference what part of the globe the parts came from what with CNC machines and the like.

Perhaps not, but the composition of those parts is in many cases of paramount importance.

Stick a magnet on a recent US-made Strat's neck plate lately?
