I have an American Standard strat and tele that are from around '93. I'm wondering what the specific material is that was used in making the various components of the bridges.

I've decided to start replacing the cast parts with more solid parts. (i.e. saddles, block etc replace with either forged steel, brass, or various choices out there)

I'm mostly curious about whether anything from the original bridges on both the strat and tele are worth keeping. I know the saddles on both have to go, and the block on the strat but is are the plates solid steel, or chromed "something that's not cast"?

Maybe I would get entire replacements, then I can sell the old ones intact.

Any comments are appreciated, and I'm also interested in opinions about materials and brands for saddles: brass saddles vs. steel, how are graph tech, etc.

Thanks for comments.
