Hello everybody, I need some help with the bridge on my Stratocaster. I need to replace it, unfortunately, due to a broken off tremolo arm that is never, ever, EVER coming out.

It is a 2006 American made Fender Stratocaster. I spoke with Fender about it, and they told me that the bridge is a 2 Point Synchronized Tremolo. Is this the right bridge that I need here?

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002KZE8G/ref ... 6KO0SJ04CG

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Also, as I said, this tremolo arm is NOT coming out. It's done for, so I really do just have to buy a new bridge.

Hi El Jefe,

That looks like the correct bridge. All that you really need is the block and a new arm, everything else should be good. I would recommend a Callaham block and arm, much better control (no slop), and never worry about breaking the arm again.

Thank you for the advice- I'm checking out the Callaham website right now.

I figured that all I needed was the block and a new arm, but unfortunately Fender doesn't really sell a block by itself.... Either that, or I'm just not able to find it.

Yuck! That's the same cast block that is in there now. The Callaham would be an improvement in more ways than one.

My post was in response to the OP's assertion that Fender don't do "just a block".
Fender clearly do have "just a block".

I didn't assert that- I said either Fender doesn't sell a block by themselves, or I'm not able to find it.... But good job with quoting me on something I didn't say and proving me wrong about something that I didn't assert.
Either way- I'm going with Callaham.
Much thanks, Shimmilou!

There is a way to get that broken bar stub out of there. It's a common problem with screws that have the head twisted off of them.

There is a tool you can buy that looks like a leather awl, or ice pick. It's a screw driver with a very sharp pointy end and backwards threads on it.

Ideally, the it's best to drill a tiny pilot hole in the end of the bar stub, but it can be done without it if the broken off surface is flat enough. But drill the pilot hole into the little stubby part you want removed. Then put the "pointy reverse thread tool" in the hole and start screwing. It will screw tighter in a COUNTER clockwise direction instead of the other normal way. It screws in, and when it gets tight and gains traction, the little stubby piece will start to unscrew and back itself out.

It would cheaper than a new bridge. Or you could find a repairman to see if they have the tool, and maybe you can give him $5 to do it. Maybe even some kind of repair guy who isn't a guitar repairman.

Good luck.
