david gilmour's fat tones...anyone has exprience with these pickups?
custom fat 50's, custom shop 69, seymour duncan59 or fender tex-mex or texas special...

I have the CS69s with SSL-5 in the bridge. I love it. I can pretty much nail the Shine On tones. Can’t speak for the Fat 50s but if you are looking for the ‘On an Island/Live at Gdansk’ neck tone (not considering amp of course) you may want to go try the Fat 50s. I think the current Am Standard strats have them stock so shouldn’t be too hard to try out. The American Specials have the TX specials stock so you’d be able to try them out on those as well.

That’s just my two cents.

Texax special and also tex-mex pickups have too much bluesy and vinatage sound...
I want more versatile pickup that supports from blues to heavy rock...any other suggestions?

Can you give an example of a lead or something? I have a feeling the tone you may be referring to in Gilmour's "modern high gain tones" is his SSL-1C in the bridge. The consumer market equivalent of this is the SSL-5 which I have. Its inexpensive and screams. There's obviously his rig to consider but the SSL-5 is definitely a good place to start and can do good high gain IMO

You may want to consider the Tapped version of that pickup. Something I didn't think of and would be a nice option as the standard version is 13k so not as clean as I would sometimes like

And yes. Gilmourish.com is a must for any Gilmour enthusiast. Tons of great info to be found

That's a good solution for the "Momentary Lapse of Reason" - "Division Bell"/ Candy apple strat eras but those were used to help eliminate interference from the huge stage setup. When he went back to black around 2005, he returned to standard SCs and the SSL-5 is all over "On and Island" and "Live at Gdansk". If you haven't checked out Live at Gdansk I couldn't recommend it enough to any Floyd/Gilmour fan. Its Delicious.

Time from Gdansk

On an island from Gdansk SSL-5 bliss starts around 1:45 and again around 5:00

The EMG DG series especially the complete pickguard wouldn't be a slouch of an upgrade by any stretch so don't get me wrong.

All of the Fender pickups in your OP are available in some of the stock strats. The SSL-5 I mentioned is the stock bridge pickup in the Gilmour Artist series strat. I think your best bet is to go to your local pick and pluck and see what tickles your fancy.

I'll tell you this much:

I can get more Gilmour'esk sound on my 2012 Standard MIM Strat (maple fret board) with stock SSS pick-ups on accident through an Ultimate Chorus amp, than I can on my 2006 Highway One (rosewood fret board) with upgraded SSS Custom Shop Texas Special's, on purpose, on any amp or amp pedal combinations....so Texas Special's are NOT the answer.

i think, eventually i must choose CS fat 50's for neck position...

The spec on the CS DG model says Fat '50s in the neck position http://www.fender.com/guitars/stratocas ... ard-black/

I would like to put a Gilmour loaded pick guard on my '91 Strat Plus. I know that it was intended to be installed on an '57 style body with a 21 fret neck or similar. Will that neck pickup be in the right position for my 22 fret neck for the proper harmonics or do I need to use the pick guard I have and replace the pickups?

Thank you

Use your loaded pickguard - there's no difference in the pickup spacing!
You might have an issue with the screws lining up, but that another problem and another decision on your part.
