I've had this squier strat for about a year now, and just a week ago I flipped to the middle pickup for the first time in a while. When I played, it, it sounded completely toneless. Despite the knob being at 10, it sounded even lower in tone than before. It did sound kind of nice, and I don't use that pickup often, so that wasn't too bad. It crosses the line when the same thing happens to the neck pickup. Both are single coils, my humbucking bridge is fine so far, but I can't play with the neck pickup without getting this overly soft and weak sound. Any ideas to what caused it, or what I can do other than replace them?

Have to agree.. you are talking about a "Bullet".... cheap pups, however... as mentioned above... have you checked the height?... the pup may very well be too low

One thing to know...if you change out pots on a Bullet, you will have to do a little modifying to the cavity on the bottom Tone pot.
The cavity (atleast on the one I am modifying) is routed for that cheap tiny little pot, and I had to shave out a little space for the new one.

Also; if you want to change out the entire loaded pickgaurd...I found that 4 of the 11 holes did not match up---Elmer's glue, some tooth picks, an exacto knife, and a drill cured that (old holes filled & covered, new holes drilled).
Not sure if it is because I went from that one-ply that the Bullet comes with, to a three-ply that came off my 06' Highway 1...but 11 holes did not match 11 holes.
