I have a 15 year old strat with lace sensor pickups. It has a five position selector, but the neck pickup has almost no treble when using the tone control. When I switch to the position between the middle and neck pickup I have full tone control. Not having much electronic experience, does anyone have any ideas.

You might try raising your neck pickup slightly.

The pickup is about as far up as it can go. I'm thinking there must be some electronic issue, faulty wiring, not sure if there are resistors or capacitors engaged in the circuit, I guess I need a schematic.

It may just be a case of a dead (or dying) pickup. It happens periodically.

Could be anything but if the second tone knob controls the mid pickup and this works when in combo with the neck then possibly the first tone pot is dud e.g fractured track or it is not getting engaged on the pickup selector.
Problems like this are generally solved by a process of elimination using an ohm meter.
If this turns nothing up swapping the pickups will determine if you have a pickup issue.
Hope this helps somewhat. :D

A meter will also reveal a defective pickup.

Yes I agree. Naturally you are measuring the resistance of the coil.
In general terms few meters will read inductance and even less will tell you anything about the magnetic field :D
