I have owned this leather Fender strap for many years. A friend who was much older than myself gave me the strap about 1980 or so. At the time, he said it came with his Dad's 1957 Telecaster. It sure seems old.
My question is, is it period correct? Did Fender provide this strap with it's guitars in the 1950's?Image

I am at work right now, so I don't have access to it, but from what I remember about the Telecaster "history" books I have, I believe that leather straps were included (as well as the case) with many of the 50s and 60s era Fenders....

I just returned this strap to Sweetwater.com becuase it would go high up enough for me on it's maximum setting. Adjustments are limited on this. Not like a buckle that you can adjust as much as you please. It was just that the guitar was hanging to low on it's maxiumum height. Then I read reiviews on this strap on the net and they said that this strap was either made for a tall person or someone who wants to play the guitar hanging down to their knees. If your still interested in the Fender Vingtage strap they still sell it at sweetwater.com for $23.99. I coudn't do anything with it thought. I konw that George Harrison is seen using it in the inside of the Let It Be album and Ritchie Blackmore from Deep Purple also uses or used it. I have a DVD of Deep Purple Live In Concert in which you can see Blackmore using this same strap.
