Howdy. I hope you guys can help.

I had a Squier Strat from the late 80's (japanese) that I had modified with a push/pull tone pot from the Fender magazine published around 1987. I would love to wire my current Squier the same way.

It had the old style 5 position switch, volume (250k), tone (250K) and a push/pull tone (250k). Originally, with the push/pull in the down position, it had the typical strat pup configuration. With the push/pull in the up position, it had neck/bridge, all three, all three, all three, neck bridge.

The current Squier has an old style 5 position switch and the normal 250k pots. I plan on getting a 250k push/pull to install in it but would like to keep all other hardware in place.

Any idea how they did this?

Thanks for your help!

What is your question ?

You want a schematic ?

You don't know where to buy the push pull tone ?

Both of these links will give you the same thing, only from a different angle. The Stewmac link is just a bridge on, and the Seymour Duncan is a neck on. But, it is not what you mentioned, I don't remember ever seeing a configuration like that. I am not saying you are wrong, I just have not seen it before. If you used the bridge on option, in the up position you would have:

bridge/ bridge-middle / bridge-middle / bridge-middle-neck / bridge-neck

and then the neck on would give you:

bridge-neck / bridge-middle-neck / middle-neck / middle-neck / neck

These mods are all parallel, and it is one of the easiest mods to make, you are simply turning on one of the pickups in all positions. Also, it would be a little neater in reguards to wiring if you use the push/pull as your Vol instead of Tone, but if you want to use it as Tone you just will have add more wire. Is your heart set on having it exactly the same? You will have the same tones, just in different switch positions.

I did find one that is fairly close to what I was wanting. It utilizes a jumper wire from the switch (neck) to one of the poles on the push/pull. Then on the bottom side of the push/pull you solder the bridge hot. Everything else is fairly standard wiring.

Long story short, it works!

Thanks for the help guys. I greatly appreciate it.
