I just bought a lefty standard Strat and want to replace the original pickups. Are pickups inter-changeable between righties and lefties? I purchased a set of Fender Custom Shop '69 Strat pickups and didn't see anything about them being "only" righty or lefty.
Thanx for any help,

Eric

Welcome to the Forum.

If the pole pieces are all even then it doesn't matter. If the pole pieces are staggered then you would need a Left Handed stagger.

The right handed stagger will actually work, but the distance between the top of the pole pieces and the string sill be different and not have the same tone as intended.

I bought a lefty standard MZ7 from Sam Ash and it has the staggered pole pieces. I like these pickups. between working the volume knob and the amp gain, I get a nice brown clean crunch to heavy overdrive. I'd noticed on some other standards that the pole pieces were flat across. Was this an '06 upgrade?
