So how do I easily verify whether a Strat pup is either north or south polarity with a compass? If the north direction arrow points towards the neck & bridge pickup, does that mean those pickups are considered 'north' and middle pup needs to show the opposite direction (south) for it to give RWRP noise canceling for slot 2 & 4?
Thanks for any advice.

If the north direction arrow points toward the pickup, then the pickup is South Up.

Confusing fact: the earth's geographic north pole is actually a magnetic south pole! That's why the north direction arrow of a compass points north ...

It does not matter which pole is "up" as long as the middle pickup is opposite the other two, and the middle pickup is wired opposite.

More correctly, wound opposite.
