What is recommended for shielding a part # 0991343000 '62 guard? Don't believe it comes with any shielding at all, correct?

The shieldplate Arjay mentions is a great choice.

But if you don't want to spend that much and you have a roll of aluminum foil and an X-Acto knife (or razor blade, or similar), just go to WalMart or a hobby store and buy a small can of spray-on contact cement.

Spread some paper on a flat surface, spread some foil on top of that, spray the foil with the contact cement. Let it sit for a few minutes until it's tacky but dry. Drop the pickguard on the foil. Trim the foil. I prefer to cut from the back, freehanding about 1/18" in from the edge of the guard. Cutting from the top using the guard to guide the blade risks shaving off the edge of the guard/edges of the pickup holes. You don't really need to open up the various screw holes, though you may want to poke a hole through each to make it easier to push the screws through.

It took me like 5 minutes to do that to my '62RI guard, and most of that was waiting for the contact cement to set up.

If you don't have foil, a blade, and scrap paper and have to buy all that along with the contact cement spray, it may be just as cheap to buy the shieldplate. But I had all those things sitting around anyway, so it was free.
