Just purchased some Fender SCN pickups to replace the stock pups in my 2008 American Stratocaster. After installing, I don't something is right, very dull sounding and not the output I thought. Do I need to change the pots? I used 250k. The diagram for the new pickups also show to use the black ground wires connected to the guitar, now should go to the middle tone pot instead of the volume, kinda not the normal way I usually hook up one. I currently have it hooked up the conventional way. Any thoughts? Thx.

:D I've just put some of these in my MIM Strat, I used 250k pots and a 0.047uF cap. Personally I ignored the diagram and grounded the black wires on the vol pot, I also grounded the green wires on the same pot. If you think about it, it doesn't matter which pot you ground the pickups on as they should all be grounded.

Do you use a multi-meter when doing this - this could show any bad connections using the continuity test.

Hope this helps. :D
