Been out of the loop in terms of new guitar gear lately. I guess the twin humbucker is pretty standard now days on a HSS Stratocaster? Anyhow, this is a new FSR guitar. I'm not sure what the single coils are. Texas Specials? Any how about that bucker - standard Fender humbucker? Guitar is a 2013 FSR Standard Stratocaster.

Bridge Pickup: Atomic™ Humbucking
Middle Pickup: Texas Special™ Single-Coil Strat
Neck Pickup: Texas Special™ Single-Coil Strat

By the way , something wrong with one half of your humbucking ! It is not straight , defective pickgard hole ?

Thanks for the info. This is a Mexican Strat, so not sure if all that applies. Probably pretty close though, huh? The humbucker has that tilt action two screws on one side. I suspected it was flawed when I bought it, then I figured out the tilt and thought maybe that's how it's intended. I dunno. Like I said, been out of the loop for a while. It kinda makes sense to me. This way there's not too much brightness coming off the bridge pickup. Like ice pick. I can adjust it so the whole thing is like a V. It sounds good the way I have it now, so I dunno. But yeah, it's the pickup itself, not the pickguard hole.

That's actually another question. Is that pickup flawed or is it supposed to be tilted? It has the 3 screw adjustments on it. Two on one side for tilt action lol. I dunno.

If that is anything like my MIM FSR strat, those are probably Fenders standard ceramic pickups with a standard Fender humbucker. Easiest way to know for sure, next time you change strings pull the pickguard off and check the bottom of the pickups. If the two single coil pickups have two magnet bars going across them then they are ceramic. The humbucker with have Fender logo stamped into it.
Not bad pickups, nice and warm with more focus on the lows and mids. On another note, I noticed the same thing with my humbucker, they have a slight tilt away from each other. I think this is common with this type of humbucker as i've seen this mentioned elsewhere before.
Hope this helps.

Good idea. Will Check. I put in a request with Fender Customer Relations as well. They gave me basic specs on the whole guitar but not details on the pickups. I sent a second email to see if I can get an answer on those. Not a huge deal, just would like to know what pickup height to set. If they are Texas Specials they will need more room. I have them setup that way and they sound good. They were close to that spec when I purchased new so I suspect they are TS's.

I understand the differences between Alnico and Ceramic but without doing an a/b I really don't know what's in there. This is my only electric at the moment. Gone are the days of multiple guitars for me.

I installed a set of Custom Shop Texas Special pickups in my FSR MIM strat and based on the pole height on your pickups they don't match the Texas Specials that I have. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that they're not CSTS, but I have been wrong before..... but as long as they sound good then that's all that really matters.

Its an odd pole piece arrangement isn't it? I can't find a similar example of this style pickup on Fender's Accessory pages.

I'll take a look and maybe post some shots of the stock loaded pickguard that came with my FSR MIM to see if they match. But yeah, it is odd indeed.

How does that guitar sound now with the csts pickups compared to stock?

I'm still waiting for the pots and switch to come in to complete the wiring. I needed to go this route and rewire a completely new pickguard because of the ssh to SSS configuration. I did however try them in my squier briefly and these pups definately have a beautiful chime to them. They are by far brighter than the standards ceramics, lots of treble but in a good way and the bass is tight. I debated between these and the fat 50's but decided on these because I was looking for a more bluesy tone.
Here is a very good sample of what they are capable of.

Thanks. That's got me thinking now. I have a little extra $ and I might get me a nice set of alnicos. Maybe vintage twang, noiseless maybe. Dunno. I see research in my future.
