I recently picked up a Mighty Mite Strat copy with two humbuckers. They read HMV on the bottom. I was told before buying they were Fender humbuckers, but my internet research has failed to i.d. them. Anyone seen these pickups before and can comment on their manufacture? They have white bobbins, flat non-adjustable pole pieces, metal bottom mounting plate. They have two screws total for mounting and adjustment each. They sound pretty full. Nice clean tones and decent dirty tones on the o.d. channel of my Nobels amp. I don't have image hosting at this point,so I don't have a photo....Thanks...

Yes,mine are like these pickups except they don't say USA on them, they just have"TM" following the "HMV"....I saw this advert also. I'm doubting those are the pickups that originally came in a Yamaha SG2000....I'm guessing the HMV's are cheap Chinese made pickups....Sound okay so far, though I'm tempted to go the Duncan JB/'59 route. Love that pup combo....But the Big Apple Strats came with the Pearly Gates, maybe that would be good also. Don't need heavy metal grind, just a well voiced pickup that can do blues to heavy rock...I love Buck Dharma's tone on "Flat Out",his solo album....think he used EMG humbuckers on his Strat, don't know which EMG's,though....Open to suggestions. My guitar is ash body/maple neck.... 8)

The construction does not look like they are chicom in origin. And each pickup is marked for a specific application, ie: "B" and "N". If they sound good why replace them?

The pickups sound good but not great. I'm referencing tone from a Yamaha RGZ 211 I had with a Duncan Trembucker that sounded tremendous. Can't afford a different amp at this point,so a used Duncan would be a cheap upgrade... 8) The HMV's shall remain a mystery for now it seems...

Save them for a special project or use them as trading fodder.

I'm sure they're of value to someone.
