Hi everyone!
I've a Fender Showmaster Highway 1 H/S/S with floyd rose that has in the bridge a Fender Enforcer Humbucker.
Here's the question: I know that my Seymour Duncan Invader is rated 17k but when I tryied to measure the dc res on Enforcer I cannot get the res. So anyone knows the dc res for Enforcer Humbucker on my Showmaster? I need to know the output (I'm thinking to change it with a Crunch Lab of DiMarzio but I need to know before if the Enforcer has more output than DiMarzio - 11k res)
Thanks a lot
Andree

Do you know how to use ohmeter to read DC resistance ?

Do you know where to connect the ohmeter at the pickups ?

By the way DC resistance only do not tell what is the output .

DC resistance bears little or no relation to a pickup's output

Possibly the best discussion of resistance and inductance I've read on the internet ...

Thank you all.. I've tryied to put red > positive and blac > negative but I cannot see numbers on voltmeter.. I've done the same on Invader and it showed 16,6k...
Does anyone knows if the Fender Enforcer has more output of a Crunch Lab??

Just to be clear; measuring the resistance of the coils will not give any reliable indication of the output of the pickup. The only way you can do that is by connecting a VERY sensitive voltmeter across the pickup and hitting the guitar strings. Most multimeters aren't sensitive enough in the audio range accurately to detect the tiny voltages generated by guitar pickups. Even if they were, you could only make comparisons between outputs if you then replaced the pickup you tested with another pickup then hit the strings with precisely the same force.

And I'll say it again - measuring the resistance of the coils will not give any reliable indication of the output of the pickup. All it'll really tell you is whether the coils are broken.

You have a bad contact with meter and PU wire; oxydation on solder or.......

Plug a guitar cable on you output guitar jack , switch to this pickup and put your meter probe on tip and ring ( plus and minus ) on the other end of guitar cable.

Nothing man, it works with all my guitar except with the one with Enforcer...

Does anyone knows if Enforcer has more output of DiMarzio Crunch Lab?

Thanks

Andree

Enforcer pickups work on the guitar and you can't get any reading on your meter . So how do you explain that if not bad contact between your meter and pickup ?
