Edsel Ford's was one such idea.

Ok,

Please pardon me for one more question. I want to rewire my pups to match the Published Fender schematic and I happen to have one spare Fender Ceramic disk in a package. It’s the 0.02MFD IC one that they sell as “Part of the grease bucket tone mod”. Am I correct in assuming this will work fine if I use this one and solder it to both tone pots per the wiring schematic. Is there anything unique about the “grease bucket” cap? I have .022uf poly caps that came with the fender pots but I thought since I had this one sitting around I’d give it a whirl while I have everything opened up. The only deviation from the schematic will then be my toggle switch to turn on the neck and bridge together but I sometimes like that on the clean tones so will keep.

Thanks again for all the help here.

It'll work fine and no, there's nothing unique about it.

You're quite welcome! :D

Thanks very much for all the advice here. I took it apart this past weekend and did some touching up on the wiring.

For a while there was this rattling (best i can describe it) metallic sound that didn't sound like fret buzz but was making me nuts trying to find it. I figured since i didn't notice it with my Lace Pups, i'd give these 69s another shot after addressing some of the wiring and if i still couldn't figure it out i'd consider putting the Lace pups back in.

Took out the .047 caps (had tried the green chicklets) that were wired with one on each Tone pot and replaced with the one Fender .02uf Ceramic disk i had on hand and followed the schematic for the 60s strat.

I had also previously left the two Tone pots without a ground wire connecting all three since i had seen this on other schematics and thought it would be neater and be grounded via the shielding on the Pickguard. Decided to follow spec for this schematic and connect all three.

While in there, i noticed a couple of spots on the copper shield foil were peeling way from the cavity so patched it with some spare.

So how does it sound? The second it was tuned up and turned on it was like a new guitar. The "Bell Like Tones" were there, got the "Quack", the tone pots responded exactly the way I like, and best of all... That annoying rattle is gone. Not sure where exactly it was coming from but I'm just pleased its finally gone.

Thanks again for all the advice... Top shelf.
