Hello

quick question. I have CS69s and the tone on the neck pup with my amp settings is right where i want it to be. Whenever i switch to my bridge pup its a bit ice picky. I'm fine with dropping the tone down but just wondering if there is something i can do on the next string change that might tone it down a bit and give it a little more body so its a little better matched with the neck pup. I had read something about soldering a resistor on the five way switch on the Bridge pup terminal.

i have 250k CTS pots with .047 caps on both tone controls.

Eventually i might swap the pup for the SSL5 or toss... ehem... a spare Lace Transensor i have back in to see what it sounds like but would rather keep all three pickups with the standard pole magnet look if i can

I do have a Treble bleed circuit on the volume pot which i like but if its adding to the problem i'll toss that too while i have the hood up.

thanks very much

Greetings,

The CS 69 is an inherently ice picky in the bridge position. The pots and cap you have in there now are appropriate; the treble bleed circuit however, has to go.

If you haven't done so already, wire the lower tone pot so that it can control the bridge pickup too. Aside from this, the SSL5 or even a DiMarzio FS-1 would be your best alternatives.

You're welcome!

Thanks very much

I did wire the Lower Tone pot to control the Bridge and Middle Pup which helps but i'll definitely lose the treble bleed on the next string change. It was a novelty for a while but don't really care for it much any more

Clipped the treble bleed out, improved the icepick so that's good

Have to open her back up and check my wiring now though... when i plugged back in I picked up a Latin radio station. More pronounced as I roll down the volume and strongest when volume is at zero. Also noticed that when i let a chord ring, there is a slight static that seems to go away or i guess get drowned out when Volume is at 10. So basically i now have the Telemundocaster

Will have a closer look tonight or tomorrow. Hopefully its a simple fix. Or i can just start playing salsa music i guess.

Shielding may help tune out "la música".

Thats the odd thing... everything en el guitarro has un shieldo de copper  ... it was fine til I circumcised the Treble bleed out. Maybe i pulled something loose. I'm going to have to open it back up and inspect.

is it normal to have the interference increase as the volume goes down even if i'm not playing anything?

Your interference is most likely coming from your cable or beyond, not from the guitar.

thanks. I'll check the whole path tonight.

My next guitar is going to be a telecaster so i don't have to take the strings off to get at the wiring.

You're welcome.

Please don't take this sarcastically: With a properly functioning guitar, accessibility of the wiring really shouldn't be a determining factor when choosing a model.

As always, this is merely IMO where YMMV.

After some investigating I've discovered its the combination of one of my cables with my overdrive pedal. If i take this pedal out of the chain the signal is clean. With that pedal in the chain and the one cable in question out, signal is clean.

Not surprising as that's what I said earlier.

Thanks Very much Martian.

I got thrown off when the issue went away, but it came back last night so I followed your advice and started swapping cables around to isolate bad one. Its a shame because i like that cable.

Yea, sometimes a certain combination although supposedly superior, just doesn't fly.
