Hi everyone, this is my very first message in this forum.
My name's Cristian, and I'm Italian. After complaining myself for several years, i finally decided to learn playing guitar. So I bought one, and started private lessons twice a month since one year ago.
Now, i'm taking it seriously, and to "reward myself" for my efforts, i bought a black Pawn Shop '51 last week, for my birthday. The baby is very nice, and I love both the Enforcer humbucker and the Texas Special, they sound great. What I really hate is having a white neck pickup sourrounded by that huge white pickguard... I think it's quite ugly. ^^"
Now, i would like to change the PU cover with a chrome one or, at least with a black one. Does anyone know where can I buy original pickup covbers from Fender? I bought a regular Strato pickup cover, but my lutist said the Texas cyls are a bit wider than average, and a normal cover doesn't fit. Can anyone help me? If someone knows at least the serial number or product code of the Texas Special cover, it could help me looking in the net, too.
Thanx everyone, guys, and cheers.

Cristian

Your "lutist" is mis-informed. Fender's Texas Special uses a standard Fender pickup cover.

As above. Nothing unusually shaped about a Texas Special at all, any aftermarket cover (with the correct spacing, of course) will fit.

Thank you guys! After reading your answers I gave a look on internet, and in fact you're right! Anyway, it wasn't my lutist's fault... it was my fault! I bought a wrong cover, bridge size while I need the middle/neck one. That's all.
Thanx again! See ya.

Single-coil Strat pickups (of any Fender brand) all use the same cover. There is no specific "bridge", "middle", or "neck" pickup cover. They come three in a bag as a Fender accessory and they're identical.

Are you sure? I found these ones on ebay, if you take a look on the specs, they say the bridge cover has larger cyls (5,2 mm - that's the cover i bought - instead of 5 mm - the size i need). Little bit confused. O.o"
Anyway, now it's clear that I need the 5 mm one. Fine. I'll look around to find one single cover, it would be a waste buying a set of three.

Those are NOT Fender parts.

I'd be surprised if they fit anything.

Uhm. But it seems Fender doesn't make genuine chrome covers for strat - just black, white, aged white and parchment. Am I wrong?
Anyway, it's something so cheap that it's not great tragedy trying one.
Thanx again!

I've never bought an actual Fender pickup cover in my life - never had any problems with fitment. It's just a moulded bit of plastic, not rocket science.

As for the size, pretty sure my neck Texas Special was 52mm - I'd measure it, but that guitar is about 20 miles away in the studio.

Hey, I found that a lot of people have different pickups (50 mm and 52 mm) in their strat, it seems to be common.
Take a look to this one:

Yeah, there are all sorts of spacings, always pays to measure first.

Keith at Axetec is highly recommended, I get loads of stuff from him - including pickup covers, one of which is currently on a Texas Special, so those ones obviously do fit perfectly.
