Had no replies in the Fender Lounge section so I thought I would repost here:

Question for Fender pickup experts out there...

I have a Jaguar HH with the Hot Vintage Alnico humbuckers that I just recently acquired. Would not be looking to mod this guitar BUT... local Craigslist has a post for a set of Fender Wide Range HBs for a seemingly decent price and a search of GCs website leaves me to believe the Wide Range HBs cannot be purchased independently of a guitar that comes stock with them.

Ideas/thoughts on whether it would be worth switching out the Hot Vintage Alnicos for the Wide Ranges?

Are the Wide Range HBs the same thing as the Fender "Enforcer" HBs that come in many of the Pawn Shop series guitars?

Thanks in advance!

I want to preface this with the following being my unscientific, unsubstantiated opinion and you should take it with a grain of salt.

To me, all Fender HBs appear to be of imported origin and are simply moderate to loud (and louder) with all pretty much the same generic, modern tonality. Or to put it another way, replacing one model with another one will not yield anything dramatically different in terms of character. Consider the fact that the set you are eying on CL is cheap for a reason. If you are looking for a specific sound and/or output you'd do best to consider other brands' offerings.

Again and as always, this is merely IMO where YMMV.

The newer WR 'buckers are not like the older/vintage WR 'buckers....just sayin'...
