1. Could someone take just a little time out of their day to explain to me in the dumbest way possible :P how I can achieve a parallel wiring system and a series option for my guitar I'm working on. Its going to be an SS 1 vol. 1 tone guitar just neck and bridge strat style pups so it might be a little easier to explain.
i.e. Parallel options: Neck, Neck/Bridge, Bridge; Series: Both in phase, both out. I'm hoping to be able to cram the new switches and junk tightly in the corner so my hand has room to go berserk.

2. I'm going to be cutting my own pickguard-simply cause' I don't think its neccessary to pay $60+ for custom one. I would love any tips on what to use to sand the edges to make it all pretty-like.

Any advice?

Sure. You need a vertical milling machine with a 45-degree grinding bit. They're only about six hundred bucks.

Make (and sell) ten pickguards and it'll pay for itself.

Howdy!

I can show you how to get the following pickup combos as long as your planning on using a 5 Way Super Switch. So one switch, one volume and one tone.

1. Neck
2. Neck & Bridge in parallel
3. Neck & Bridge in series
4. Neck & Bridge out of phase
5. Bridge

In that order.

Let me know if that's any good and I'll draw up a diagram for you.

As far as making your own pickguard goes, do you own/or know how to use a router? If so, you can make a pretty decent bevel with out too much hassle.

If not, its just a matter of being consistent with a file... royal pain in the arse to do though!

Hope this helps!

Hey, THANKS MAN!! :D So you CAN do it with 5-way strat switch, I thought you had to make two seperate circuits with a master switch engaging either of them. And I'm glad to know that you can use those kinda routers, I think I got one laying arund somewhere. Yeah, that sure as hell sounds a lot easier than hours of rubbing a little file back and forth lol.
I'm gonna take a wild guess that you're from Texas too , if not well a Howdy! back to you anyways as well :)

No problem! :D

You'll want a 5 Way Super Switch though. They look like this...

Grap yourself one of those and your in business! WD Music & Allparts sell them. Worth checking ebay too.

I'll post a diagram up here for you in the next few days.

I'm from the UK. I've found "Howdy" comes across as the most friendly way to greet random folk on the interwebs. :D

Cheers!

Close enough for Jazz, my friend. 8)

4 poles each with 6 terminals. That's a total of 24 lugs. Off the top of my head we only need to use about 18. I'll make sure the diagram is clear. As long as you only solder one wire at a time it will be a piece of cake!

Howdy!

Sorry I'm so late getting this to you. I've had a few PC hardware issues....

Anyhoo, here's a diagram as requested.

Turns out you'll only need 16 of the 24 terminals. That's as good as I can get it! :D

Enjoy!

Andy
