Hey guys, I have two really old Fender Vintage Noiseless PU (N/M). I got these things when they first came out years ago. When I installed them, back then, they did not come with a tone bleed kit. I had them in my guitar for a few years. I recently pulled them out of my 83' Strat and now have them hanging around. I would like to install them in a little build project I'm about to start, and would like to know is the tone bleed something the older models didn't need or was I just missing out on a tone secret?

The treble-bleed circuit is used to compensate for a perceived loss of highs when the guitar's volume control is rolled back. Some folks find this feature useful -- others, not. I'm in latter category but you may wish to experiment with it.

A "tone bleed" will make those pickups sound even more sterile than 'normal' and will make your volume pot's taper erratic.

Be careful handling those pickups for if you even 'look' at them the wrong way, they will fall apart.

As always, the above is merely IMO where YMMV.

Thanks guys for the feedback. I think I'll just keep them the way they are. And Martian, you are correct with your statement about how they can just go out on you. My bridge PU went out on me and it wasn't even being used. I'll start my Strat project today, and post some shots when I get done. Ya'll take it easy now. HOUSE-OUT!
