I recently purchased a Texas Special bridge pick up, and upon appearance it does not appear to be very over wound. As a matter of fact, it appeared to have as much winding as my 83' stock PU's. I installed it and it sound very thin. I've heard these PU's through my amp and set up before (yes, with a different guitar), and it rocked I know you have to take things in consideration, such as the wood of the guitar etc, but it's not kicking in bridge. I tried tweaking my amp, but it just throws off everything, because it does not conform to the tonal aspects I have set for the neck. I'm no stranger to the sodering gun, and know what to watch for. Fender has stated, I belive, that these PU are supposed to be over wound. My Seymour Duncan Texas Hot bridge PU is over wound. That distinction is readily visible. Have I missed something.

Have you confirmed via DCR measurement that the pickup is indeed a TS bridge model? The coil should read 6.5kΩ to 7.1kΩ on an ohmmeter.

The PU came in it's own little box, brand new, marked on box to be the bridge PU. The measure was around 6.5. My Duncan Texas Hot measures 9.1. It has alnico 2's and have some degaussing used in the process to recreate an age PU. The output difference, mid range, and bass responds can be heard (Due to a, true, over winding) When A/B. Now I'm only using the Duncan as of now, (For visual purposes) because that is the only over wound PU in my possession. I know tonally/ and configuration wise these two PU contrast completely. I thought the TS's would have a bridge PU with, at least, a 9.0 reading. Well not to let it go to waste, I placed in the neck, and love it, though I was hoping for a bridge PU with some girth. I guess I'll just hang out with Seymour Duncan's.

Many of Fender's accessory pickup sets have their specs posted on the product website......

Glad to hear it's working out in the neck position though.

6.5 is not really a bridge pickup. Should be closer to 7.2 + on a Texas Special. Post a pic of the bottom of the pickup.

Well, I purchased a Marshall DSL 40-C, put my guitar through it, and now I can hear why Texas Specials are so special. Now the fun begins...

before the Marshall, I was going through my 93' Fender Blues Deluxe, and an Egnater Tweaker 40. They serve their purpose, but this Marshall is slowly taking over. I mean I can really hear the difference in this pick-ups tone. I am in Strat Heaven!
