I was the recipient of one of these neat looking devices with a project guitar I bought a while back. From what I gather is that this is one of the original late 1970's made Bill Lawrence Q Filters. Modern ones look like plastic cubes.

I might like to pop it in to one of my guitars to see what the hell it does. Probably wire it to a bridge humbucker.

Do I simply remove the original capacitor in my guitar and put this in its place? I can't find a diagram or a pic that says it is for this older version, so I just want to see if anyone knows for sure.

Thanks for any help!

One of the wires on mine is soldered up to the tab on the casing. This pic is just one i found on the net.

Hi! Here is the schematic I drew up and it details everything that was installed the other
day. Since I'm a novice I'm bound to make a mistake somewhere...yep I must have made one :)

Anyhow everything seems to work, except when I flip to the middle position. I'm pretty
sure the weak weak sound I'm getting is because somehow the pickups are out of phase
when played together. I don't have a phase switch on any other guitar to compare it to,
but I'm guessing it's an out of phase sound. Also I believe the bridge Dimarzio must be a
very very old super distortion cause it only had a white, black and bare ground wire. I do
know that before I rewired this both pickups worked correctly when played
together. Can you spot my error?

Here's what I got:

I think this Q-filter schematic must have been for a Telecaster
