I did a double take on seeing this ad :

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Vintage-Guita ... 337f189770

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-VINTAGE-FENDE ... 20b4c05ac9

My question is...are these really that rare (uncircled "r") and I truly hope that they are because I have several hundred of them in all sizes and shapes.

So this got me thinking and now that I've perused some
of my (now illegal) old tortoise shell picks, I see some that don't even have the "r".

Anyone know when the uncircled and circled "r" was added?

Anyone really care? lol

Yes it is!

Well well... At the end of his gigs Joe Bonamassa flings about a bucketful of picks into the audience and some people scramble to get them. One landed right in my folded arms without me even trying - but the guy standing next to me had been so-o-o-o desperate to get one I handed it to him. He reacted like it was the kindest thing anyone had ever done, which seemed over the top, but quite sweet.

Little did I know I was potentially giving him something so valuable: it was probably on Ebay a couple of hours later for silly money! I thought it was just a small piece of red plastic...

Cheers - C

PS: It's a long time since I scrolled all the way down the Forum index page. I didn't even know there was an Accessories section! When did that arrive...?

They all flip 'em out into the audience now. The person that invented those
pick-holders that snap onto mic stands must be doing pretty good right about now.

Here's a reasonable Fender 50th Anniversary pick :

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fender-guitar-p ... 3cc941275c

If only it was medium...

Meh - far too cheap. You'd have to wait years before that became an investment...

By the way, people selling star-thrown picks as collector items on Ebay: how the heck do you authenticate a thing like that, to justify those absurd prices? Supposing someone cared, of course.

Cheers - C

Good point! I did send Doc a pic of what I believe to be a real
Eric Clapton used pic - but who knows?

And if you're into stainless steel frets, ss strings, then THIS
stainless steel pick might be for you:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fender-351-Stai ... 2c6b2220b2

Notice the seller doesn't describe the stainless (303, 304L, 318, etc) but the "351" shape we all know. 8)

I'd bet a dinner @ the Road Kill Roadhouse that this
is not real - the pick OR the offer :

So now I'm guessing that if you had one of THESE :

http://www.uncommongoods.com/product/pi ... 4AodxhAAYQ

...then you could possibly have all of those?!?!
