So I want to do some cosmetic work to my highway one strat. I want the vintage white pickup covers and control knobs. I was just wondering if there were any home remedies to achieve this? (I've heard soaking them in hot tea and leaving it) As opposed to just going out and buying them....

Coffee or tea will work for the control and volume knob but not the pickup covers. I suggest you buy some vintage white or aged white pickup covers and boil the knobs in coffee until you achieve the same color as covers.

It does too work for the pickup covers I did it on my texas specials, just put them in hot but not too hot coffee for about 5 minutes or until you like the color of them.

A crazy way of doing it is to leave your pup covers in a bag of sand, shake it around, wet the bag of sand, shake it around.

Relic Deluxe recommended it lol, apparently it makes it age the best.

Well, I can now confirm that RIT dye works for pickguards too. Be very careful to make sure it's not to hot or it will warp the pg. I used Yellow mixed with Tan and let it soak for a few mins on a 3 ply white pg. It did not become vintage white as I expected but surprisingly rather turned vintage mint green.

I can confirm that a double espresso worked wonders for my volume and tome knobs.
I put them in a cup and put them in the microwave for two minutes.

They l;ook really aged and tobacco stained.

Sam for the p/u covers, but needed a larger mug. :D
