I have a 2006 or 07 ? Roadhouse Delux Strat. It has Texas Specials in it which sound good to me. Receintly I had to replace my output jack and I was wondering if there could be some changes I could do to other electrical parts that woud maybe improve the sound or quality of the guitar. I have recently bought a new American Standare Tele :D , which I love and as I was wiping the dust off the Strat  , it occurered to me that I have been neglecting it and should try to upgrade it a bit. I hear talk about pots, wireing and stuff but i am lost as to which ones or what to change, if anything. Like I said, I like the Texas Specials so I don't want to change them so I guess I am just trying to improve the quality.

Roadhouse is a mexican made ?
Upgrade ; better pickups and american made pots. Only pots o other hardware than pickups won't upgrade the sound.

I've been using the good CTS pots from Stewart-MacDonald in my guitars and like them a lot. Very good pots and they have full kits available for Straits and many other guitars that include the good pots, very nice switches and first rate wire. I just redid my MIM Deluxe Strat with one of their wired chipguards that comes with their hot pickups and the full wiring kits already installed. I love the change in the Strat plus it was dead simple to do. I did a little story about the change at the link below with photos and a short video if more of that kind of info would help.

tomhintz, Did you work for Stew Mac ?

CTS pot are good pots , but in my opinion this won't upgrade guitar tone neither pickups switch replacement.

Somebody write on the forum that Golden Age pickups are same as any Epiphone pickup. Asian low budget .
IMO these PU will not upgrade B00 Stratocaster

I work for me, not Stewart-McDonald but if I could work there I could save a bunch of money! They have become my favorite source for lots of guitar parts and finishing stuff. They seem to have good stuff and they always actually have it when I need it!

Thanks for the good information but I think I am going to keep the Texas Specials. When I bought this guitar I knew very little about Fenders or any electric and the guy at the shop suggested this one because of the Texas Specials, said it was a good buy for a MIM. I now know he was right, they are a good set and I just thought that maybe I would try to upgrade some of the other electrical parts to improve the quality of the guitar and maybe it would clean up the sound a bit. So I was wondering if the effort and expense would justify the end result. Like I said earlier, I now have a 2012 Tele American Standard and love it, if I decide that I really want a different sound, I will go a similar way with the strat ( only obstical is money and wife). I like the Strat but I love the Tele. Also, a strange thing has happened, I seem to be out of GAS right now. Nothing out there tweeking my spine (yet).

For the record, my MIM Standard Strat used CTS pots and an Oak-Grigsby 5-way switch. Same as in American Standard.

I've been told that the Roadhouse may also have the CTS Pots and Oak-Grigsby and that if it does then I am OK. So thanks Bluesky, I am getting to feel better about the Roadhouse all the time. Like I said, I like the sound of it.

Thanks
B00

Thanks for all the imput and yes, I will try to keep it original, but like I said, I had to replace and output jack and I just thought I would explor the Idea of replacing some other parts that I was not sure about. I firuged that since I had it started I would check about the other parts but now I feel a better about it and I had no plan to change the pickups.

Thanks All

B00

The MIM Strats have had the good CTS pots and the Oak-Grigsby 5-way switch since 2000-01 models.
