I came by this in one of my local musical emporiums and had never seen anything like it before. I found one catalog reference from 1969 but that was it. Seems well built, kind of a funcky piece, would be cool to own and have around...although more for asthetics than actual use!

As the pics show, just changing the tube in this could be hazardous...so close to the cap board...and CBS even attached that bright orange label warning of high voltage...um why not design this better or cover the caps?

And lastly, anyone have any idea what one of these is worth? It looks to be all there except for the back panel.

BlueSky...I'm not sure even that suit would help

Yeah the Strobe sure has the design fingerprints of CBS all over it. And the dust inside was horrendous. But the more I think about it, since you have the suit and you are an engineer, maybe we'll let you flip the on switch.

I posted it because I thought it was rare enough and I had NEVER seen one.

Yeah, but I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole.

Yep it belongs in the Fender Museum. Very rare find. I don't think that is the original microphone, but I'm not positive. I thought these came with a Fender branded microphone. AKG made many of the Fender branded microphones around this same time. That is a Japanese crystal microphone and definitely not a Fender, but if it works at all it is amazing! Funny how strobes fell off in popularity isn't it?
