Post subject: Pickups

When I got my guitar I noticed some of the metal on the pickup (The part that picks up the string and so on) was punched In is this normal?

What do you mean by "punched in"?

The pole pieces (the round metal pieces on the top of pickups) are often staggered (meaning different heights).

Yes! thats what I mean. I did not the correct term.Is this normal?

Single Coil pickups come in both Staggered and Non-Staggered configurations. Both are normal and both work excellent.
