I own a Squier vintage modified thinline telecaster.
I would like to replace the tuning machine heads that came stock on the guitar.
I dont know what the gear ratio is on the stock ones (feels like 12 to 1), but I have a hard time fine tuning with them. Just a tiny turn on one makes a large change. I would like to know what tuners would fit perfectly on this guitar. I want the new ones to be 16 to 1 atleast, but 18 to 1 would be even better. Also I am looking in the 50 to 60 dollar range.

Before proceeding with anything, pull one of your existing tuners and its bushing off of the headstock and measure the hole. Your new tuners will require bushings which match that hole precisely to avoid any "imperial entanglements".

Best of luck, HTH

You need to pull one of your tuners and examine it as Arjay suggested. The tuners you are considering use two locating pins. Some of the newer Squiers only have one centered locating pin on their tuners. If that is the case, you would have to drill new locating holes which may not be easy if you don't have the proper equipment.

I dont want to drill holes.
I'm looking for an exact fit with a better gear ratio for finer tuning.

Then you need to pull one of your tuners to determine the exact mounting method before even looking at others. :!:

+1

There is no "shake and bake" solution.

The problem you describe is more of a nut issue. Get some nut work done or replace it with something like a Tusq nut before you get new turners. Turners are seldom the problem with what you are telling us.

The guitar came with 9 gauge strings, but I put on 10 gauge. I did sand the nut slots slightly, as well as using a little pencil graphite and chapstick.

Fender/Squire nuts will accommodate 10s with no modifications. If you sanded the nut slots, you may have not done it correctly and could have altered the angle of the slot. However, if the string is not "pinging" as you tune it, indicating that the string is snagging in the slot, I doubt it is a nut problem. Squire tuners are not the best out there. In any case, you still need to pull one of your tuners to determine what the mounting system is.
