What do you guys think of any of the Fender Custom Shop pickups, like the '54's, Fat '50's, '69's vs Lace Sensor Holy Grail's, or even the golds? are they worth it, I was interested in the holy grails mostly, or the fat 50's. I don't know what to get at all for my '62 reissue, I love so much music and different styles.

Different sounds and tones. Fender used the Lace Sensors
during the late 1980s & 1990s, and special guitars, today (if ever).
Get the 1950s or 1960s for the recognizable older Strat sounds.
They have a good reputation. I have several Strats and had a
Strat Plus Deluxe & Strat Plus Ultra. Clapton use Lace Sensors in the 1990s.

Lace Sensor Holy Grails are noiseless, the Fender pickups you mentioned are not. The Holy Grails are claimed to replicate the 54 Strat sound. They are NOT the same pickups used in the early Clapton Signature Strats.

Ya I would do anything for his candy apple green strat, that was a gem! I love his slowhand album tone.

Ya, I'm just looking at the lace's and custom fender's to decide what is best to put into my '62 reissue, I can't try everything, or really anything, I just gotta buy a set and make sure it's the one I'm looking for. Leaning towards the '69's or fat 50's, but those holy grail's look cool, especially with the mint green pickup covers.

And how are you going to "make sure it's the one I'm looking for"? Do you have any idea of the characteristics of the pickups you are considering? Have you ever heard any of them? Have you gone on You Tube to find examples of what they sound like? 69's and Fat 50's are very different sounding from each other. Buying a set of pickups because they "look cool" will almost guarantee you bought the wrong ones.

IMHO, I would think the OP would want that classic 1962 sound,
hum and all. Very discernable Strat sound(s).

IMHO, change a 1962 Strat to noiseless . . . . . why have the 1962 in the first place :?: :?: :?:

No I haven't heard them, and if I could I would try them all out, so alls I really can do is just figure they are all good, and go for what seems like the best bet. I'm pretty confident on the fat 50's or '69s for sure.

Ya good point, plus I don't have a problem with a little bit of noise. It's all about the 69's or fat 50's at this point. I heard the '69's sparkle and are better overdriven. I might do that. but I heard the fat 50's are good for funk and rhythem, I like that.

Sounds to me that you don't know what you want. Good luck. Hope you make the right choice.

I purchase a set of three Guitar Fetish dedicated Jimi Hendrix pickups, which
are basically reverse wound 1960s pickups. Very reasonably priced and sound fantastic.
Also, Guitar Fetish must have 30(+) differnent single coil pickups just dedicated to the 1950s/1960s.

Check them out as well as the Fat 1950s
