Morning all,

Has anyone here changed the covers on their Texas pickups?

My plan is to change the plate, covers and pots to black. A friend warned me that switch pup covers can be tricky if they have been installed with wax to reduce hum. I have not had the pick guard off my guitar and was hoping to gain some insight from here before doing so.

Can the pup covers be removed without desoldering them?

Is there any problems with removing the cover like wax/loose parts?

Thanks.

The wax your friend mentioned is used only on the pickup windings and the bobbins. It doesn't touch the pickup covers. Once you remove the pickups from the pickguard they'll pop right off. No need to desolder anything either. Use caution once you have the coils exposed.
