I have a pair of Mighty Mite hums that came stock with my Cort. I'm kinda looking to assemble a beater guitar for certain situations.

The pickups have 3-wires. They were originally hooked up to coil splitting pots, and I'm not a fan of that. But when I use an ohm meter to measure the dc resistance, they only register 7.5k if I measure the white with the bare ground.

White/bare- 7.5k
White/red- 3.7k
White/red+bare- 3.7k
Red/bare- 3.7k
Red/white+bare- 1.8k

Given those numbers, is it logical to think that I should just leave the red wire unattached to anything if I want a full Humbucker sound? Does that mean I just tape the end of it and don't use it?

IMO the red is for split coil use , if you want humbucker don't use it , put tape on end and put on side

Seems to me like you are missing a wire. Coil splitting a PAF style humbucker requires four wires. This is from the Mighty Mite website:

Initially, thats what I thought too. I re-stripped the ends and still only 3. These pickups came from my MGM-1 and it was all original electronics and pickups when I bought it. I'll experiment with them and see what the deal is. I haven't run across this before. But both pickups are exactly the same way.

When I read the numbers and think about it logically, I came to the same conclusion as Stratele though. I think you just tape it off.

Thanks for your responses. I do appreciate it.

Humbucker have two coils in serie , this give maximun resistance . You have that using white and bare wires . Only those two wires.
