I am about to buy a set of N3 Noiseless Fender pickups. My question is, "If I want these to function with a regular 5-way switch in a 57 reissue strat, do I have to change the pots out from 250K to a different size, and does the green ground wire and the black ground wire solder to the same pot top (volume) or does the green go to the first tone pot as shown in the S-1 Deluxe strat diagram? Thanks.

No to the pot change; the green and black wires get soldered to the back of the volume pot.

Thanks, that is what I was hoping. Then I assume the pickups are essentially still noisless?

You're welcome. Yes. The green wire grounds say, the chassis of the pickup. The black wire is outright from one of the coil leads. The pickups will function as they were intended. Note that "Noiseless" is simply Fender's name for their stacked humbucker line.

Hummmm, so can they be split like a humbucker, or no? Sorry to keep bugging you, but I can't find these answers anywhere else.

I knew they were two stacked coils one on top of the other, but humbucker never crossed my mind before. So the black is the ground for one coil and the green is ground for the other?

Yes, they can be split. However, Fender's stacked humbuckers are EXTREMELY fragile. If you start messing with them, the odds are overwhelming that somethng will irreparably break.

You're not bugging me. You ask intelligent questions which deserve intelligent answers.

No, the black wire is one of the two coils' leads whereas the green wire grounds the metal frame aspects of the pickup, having nothing to do with either coil.

OK, so, if the black is a lead from one coil which makes it 'HOT', why then would it go to the top of the volume pot like a ground wire? Wouldn't have to go to a contact of a Pot to function properly?

Just trying to understand. I felt like it it should go to the top of the vol pot, but that was when I thought it to be a ground wire. I still will wire it like you said, but if you can explain this, I will be the better for it. Thanks in advance.

Each and every coil has at least two leads, one being negative and the other being positive. In this particular situation, the subject black wire is color coded as a negative from the coil so it too, gets grounded to the pot. You're welcome.
